Archangel's Kiss by Nalini Singh

A world where angels and archangels are routinely seen flying in the skies of New York, and elsewhere. Singh gives an all new outlook on such fantastical beings. The plot is well thought out; moving quickly, with incredible heights and stomach-churning lows. Nalini Singh has a gift for creating a story with characters that draw you in. This book is an attention-getting mix of action, supernatural, and romance.

Pawn of Prophecy by David Eddings

Prophecy, fate, destiny; all make for a wonderful story. Eddings brings to life a seemingly simple hero, with a varied supporting cast. Chasing across continents, avoiding various ambushes and traps, this book has enough action to keep you reading. It also has enough of the fantastical keep your imagination busy. If you enjoy epic fantasies, this book is a definite keeper.

Mindset The New Psychology of Success by Carol S. Dweck, PhD

This book was recommended to me by an occupational therapist. I was doubtful about reading it, as I have generally found self-help books a bit of a challenge to read. However, once I began reading, I was hooked. Dr. Dweck talks about two different mindsets, fixed and open. The book made me think about how set in my views I am. I personally find it to be a help, and appreciate the time and effort she took to research this subject. Mindset keeps the interest in the subject, and yet still reads like a research book. Do you think mindset makes a difference?

Action, introspection, and politics. This is not a light read, but very intriguing, if a little too heavy on the politics for my taste. Matz's hero was very deeply developed, in such a way that one could only be grateful that, even though the story is wonderful, one isn't him. This a good occasional read, and be prepared to ponder the how and why of most of your life.

Nightlife by Rob Thurman

Myths all have some truth at their roots. Imagine living life knowing the truths of the myths that the majority of people refuse to know and believe. Rob Thurman has created a reality that is cold and harsh, yet still there is hope and warmth. The characters spring to life, struggling with the situations this knowledge helps to create for them. Lots of action, desperate situations, and a realistic amount of warm and happy moments. Thurman shows a wonderfully funny, dark sense of humor. I found this book very suspenseful and well written, and recommend it strongly.

Night Pleasures by Sherrilyn Kenyon

Greek gods, immortal hunters, and soul-sucking villians comprise this entertaining cast of characters. Kenyon does a wonderful job of taking the
Greek gods of mythology and portraying how they may still be meddling in the affairs of the modern world. I am impressed by how she was able to convincingly describe the trials and tribulations of the characters. Being completely drawn into the fast moving plot, I have very seldom been on such a believable emotional roller-coaster ride. Sherrilyn Kenyon does a wonderful job of taking unexpected twists and turns to reach a satisfying ending. Overall, I would recommend this book as a fun, action-packed, paranormal romance.
